Dongria Kondh Handloom Cotton Sarees

Revival of an art is as important as it is to reinterpret it in its purest form. The traditional tribal handloom weave of Odisha, called the Dongria weave, indigenous to the Dongria Kondh tribe living in the Niyamgiri ranges of Odisha, is being revived to give it's weavers their rightful place in the realm of design. This saree is a reinterpretation of the tribal weave, handcrafted by the weavers of Eastern Odisha. The coolness of the beautiful cotton and the beauty of a traditional weave combined, this saree is a wonder. Starting off with a very small collection of 3 pieces, I hope to give this weave a big room in the Weaves of Tradition closet!
